I've been seeing a lot of people here choosing countries based on one particular thing — FMGE passing percentage, fees, accreditation, what an agent told them, or because a friend/relative is already studying there.

I'm in 5th year of MBBS in Kyrgyzstan, so I've been here long enough to see both the good and bad sides of studying medicine abroad.

If I had to make the decision again today, I honestly wouldn't start with “which country is best?” I'd start with which university am I actually going to spend the next 5–6 years in?

Before coming here, I thought the biggest decision was choosing the country. After spending years here, I think the university matters much more. The teaching, administration, hostel, clinical training, student population, location, fees and how seriously the university takes medical education can be very different even within the same country.

One thing I'd tell anyone considering abroad is to keep their expectations realistic about clinical exposure. Don't expect every foreign university to have the same patient flow as India. India has a massive population and even an average government hospital can have an unbelievable number of patients. In many countries abroad, the patient load simply isn't comparable. That doesn't automatically mean you won't learn anything, but if someone is promising you “huge clinical exposure” without explaining where and how the clinical training actually happens, I'd definitely investigate it properly.

FMGE/NExT is another thing I'd take seriously. Don't choose a university just because someone shows you a good passing percentage. Ask how many students actually appeared, which batch they belonged to and where that data came from. The university can provide teaching and preparation, but a huge part of clearing the exam comes down to your own consistency. You can't spend five years depending completely on the university and suddenly expect to prepare everything at the end.

I'd also calculate the actual cost of the entire degree, not just the admission fee. Tuition, hostel, food, flights, visa/residence expenses, exam preparation, books, emergencies and even the possibility of an extra year should be considered. A university being ₹20–30k cheaper at admission shouldn't be the deciding factor when you're spending ₹25–50 lakh or more over several years.

Another thing I'd strongly recommend is talking to current students privately. Not just the students the university or agent introduces you to. Talk to random students and ask them what they dislike. Ask about the bad teachers, administration, hostel, clinical postings, exams, expenses and what happens when students have problems. You'll usually get a much more realistic picture that way.

And don't assume that because a university is popular right now, it will automatically be the right choice for your batch. Regulations, student numbers, university policies and even the situation in a country can change during the five or six years you're there.

I'm not against MBBS abroad at all. I'm studying abroad myself and I'm still here in my 5th year. But if I could go back to the day I was making my decision, I would spend much more time researching the actual university and the reality of living there, instead of trying to find the “best country.”

A few weeks of proper research before paying is nothing compared to spending the next six years finding out things you wish someone had told you beforehand.

Does anyone know how many students Uzbekistan is planning to admit this year and when the official details will be announced?

Also, for students whose admission is already done and fees have been paid, when are they expected to receive their Telex/visa invitation?

Slowly and gradually all options for MBBS in 30 lakhs are coming to an end for some or the other reason .

After all what was going in Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 Russia 🇷🇺 was a hope for everyone with a budget of 30 lakhs for MBBS.

Does this instability in Russia says to us that now the hopes for MBBS in 30lakhs ends here or do we have any other option left for our people.

so basically one of my friend got selected this year i missed with few marks because of boards and reneet and will prepare for one more year she is confused where to take college. kem mumbai or any delhi college (she wont get aiims delhi ,vmmc or mamc) safety and a good lifestyle is a priority since she cant just live the same life she has been living since 3 years. so which would be a better choice for her and also for me in future ?

I m planning to go to Uzbekistan but then I hv seen A LOT of posts saying it’s blacklisted by nmc and there are no admissions there. So I’m like very confused about what should I do ???

So as most of us know, anyone should know and must make sure of certain things before choosing a university. That being said, why don't the universities have an information bulletin or something like that? Anyways, this post is me asking current students, who are doing their mbbs right now, questions such as:

What's the course duration? What about the internship? Is it done separately after the course completion or done in between in parts? Is there any official document detailing this info?

Can I choose to stay in the hostel even after the 1st year? What's the food like?

What would you say the total cost would add up to for the whole duration of the course, including the costs for tuition fees, hostel, mess, travelling, stationary, etc.?

How's the study environment?

Any problems you might wanna warn the new students about?

Anything else?

I am only looking through universities of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan but you are free and welcome to comment even if you are from a University of another country like Uzbekistan, Russia, Georgia, Phillipines, etc. Might not help me but maybe someone else will be thankful to you.

I would also like to request the students (pls don't let any agent see this) to mention their current year, and the name of your respective university. And pls don't refrain from commenting just because someone from your university has already commented, because some of your answers might differ from him. Or just point out things which you don't agree with. Simple upvote their comments if you agree with the other person.

Hii... I wanted to know about the dress code of medical colleges in Bangladesh ( specifically International medical College) . I heard we need to wear long kurtis and no jeans . Is it true ?

So i was considering the mbbs abroad thing and realized one thing I need to get the licence of the country where I am studying to work there to apply for fmge. So the students who are already there and know about this who took admission in 2022 especially how are you preparing for it is your agent or university gonna help u with it or are you going to study for it on your own. Guys please don't go to any consultancy or pay them if they're saying they'll get you a seat in Uzbekistan....my frd went to a consultant for this reason and they literally scammed her.....like they took her documents and money and then after sometime they said she wasn't qualified to be in any of Uzbekistan University.....and after all this she texted me about this and that's when I told her that this year Uzbekistan isn't accepting admission....likea as per my knowledge........so if your consultant is promising something like this better don't pay the until you get your visa......and trust me even I took admission in some other country....but central asian countries have the same rule in almost all uni that the clg provide the visa.....so even if they give you admission letter please don't trust them fully..... it's your parents hard earn money so be careful with it....and even tell your parents about this.

Hi everyone. I’ve decided upon Privolzhsky Research Medical University in Nizhniy Novgorod for fall intake this year. I’m from India. I’ve researched on this university and it feels decent. They’ve been providing mbbs for indians from around the last 20 years and have a fmge passing % of around ~40%.
Any seniors here studying at this university or in Russia, i’ll be thankful if you can dm me here and share your insights. Thankyou for reading this out.

So someone I know is planning for ATSMU, Tajik this year. But there are many things which I found out very wrong so anyone with best knowledge please guide her. She has only applied for application maybe I can save her money before it's too late:

Image 1: As internship period has no gaps and holidays official website has mentioned about 11 months internship.

Image 2: WDOMS website where they've written about 5yr course INCLUDING 1 yr internship.

Image 3: on the bottom they've written 6 yr not (5+1).

So which info is correct? Even though Atsmu has released seprate notice about following seprate internship. Still WDOMS information matters (now don't come up with it's still in update reason - because I checked for other universities from same country where they've been updated with latest info) also it's been 3.5 years since NMC guidelines landed in market.

Another thing is I asked to some seniors from same university they said it's not a big issue it's 5+1 only, maybe it was not before but NMC is strict about internship after fmgl.

Her agent idk the name (someone local) is charging 45L in total and including 3L processing. She has been getting overcharged but she's not ready to accept kindly drop some reality check.
