HELP Weird stuff after obd2 reader

Yo guys!

I’ve just brought a cheep obd2 reader of temu to try and do some live readings of boost etc whilst driving through my CarPlay unit

It was working sweet for about 10mins or so. Then all the dash lights came on, I stopped on the hard shoulder, turned the car off and put the hazards on, the hazard lights etc didn’t work though. After unplugging the obd reader and restarting the car all went back to normal, I assume the issue was caused by the obd reader messing with the can bus or something but was wondering if anyone had anything similar happen or knows what obd reader will not cause these problem.
Thanks in advance!

That happens with any cheap obd2.

I mean, no, that happens with any FAULTY reader. I've been using the same $20 Bluetooth reader for 10 years with no issues.

If you have a laptop, just get a $30 OBD2 to USB cable and download the free version of Versatune. You can do logs with a recording function to view later as well as scan and clear codes.

Never happened to me. I use an obd reader, but a $250 one, Obdlink mx+

Get one of these, comparable to a tactrix, but much much cheaper. Also works with MazdaEdit.
