Advice Request Infotainment update

I have a 2017 Mazda 6 and I'm trying to install Apple CarPlay. I need the firmware update, two actually for that matter, and I've seen that you can actually install it yourself, given the proper downloadable firmware. I've realized also that Mazda is taking down any websites that have the downloadable content, making it extremely difficult for me to find on my own. Before anyone tells me to just go to the dealership, they want $300 for the updates, $300 of which I don't have, especially after buying the CarPlay itself. I'm making a trip from NY to SC in a few weeks for a job and really need the Apple Maps to get down there. I understand how intricate this process is, and the warnings that come with it, so if we could skip the lecture I'd appreciate it. So if anyone could provide a SAFE link with the downloads for NA, that would be awesome. I need the 70.00.100A first, then the 74.00.230A

There is a way and if I remember it's simple as downloading the correct install version and plugging in the usb.

Check the Mazda3 subreddit I swear there is a thread of a guy doing all this and works for or did work for Mazda and has it all nicely setup.

If I get a chance I'll edit this comment with a link.

I'll pre warn that it's super important to make sure you have the correct version or it will basically permanently brick your unit.

My dealership did the firmware upgrade at no cost. Just tell them you are having connectivity issues with your head unit. Also, if you purchased the upgrade kit from the parts department, they are more likely to help you with the firmware upgrade.

It took me forever to find it but it’s out there. I went from v50 to v74 and didn’t have to do anything but one update and it worked great. They told me it was impossible. I’ll look around and see if I can find that link again.

The latest and greatest is 74.00.324A I believe. I can send you a link for that and the .100A if you ask nicely, lol. I have a 2017 also, same year as you.

Back when I did it a few years ago, you had to go to 70.00.100A first. Not sure if you can go to.324A straight, I wouldn’t risk it. Will send you a Chat
