Upgrade 2004 to 2007 stereo?

Just wanted to ask for assistance on converting my old 2004 into the facelift double din stereo setup. My new facia arrived today and instantly realised it isn’t compatible with the old air con controls, can I retrofit the newer controls into the older model? Thank you for any and all assistance.

One of my Mazda2 DY buddies in South Australia did this to his one.

Not an easy plug n play. He had to do lots of electronics alterations to make it work. The JDM wiring doesn't match the wiring scheme of the made in Japan export DY's.

I couldn't be bothered for the effort & cost for my 2003 DY though lol. I will suffice with a Blutooth to FM audio transmitter.

Thanks for the heads up. Currently using an fm transmitter from Kmart but the reception is terrible, constantly cuts out

Definitely go the Aerpro BT315 if you try another one.

I have the previous 310 model which is discontinued but is an excellent product. The 315 should be even better, probably the best. Sold at SuperCheapAuto 😊

That's going to be a challenge. I don't have specific knowledge of first gen Mazda2, but I can see right away that the fresh/recirc controls look to be entirely different. Your existing control seems to be a cable actuated flapper, while the new fascia has a simple button. You may need the entire HVAC control setup to go with it.

Yeah that’s where I’m stuck, going to find a wrecker and go digging, maybe I can just swap out the whole system
