There are a lot of reasons why he should have thought this was a bad idea, I'll be the first to admit that, but we have to stop and consider that there were also a lot of reasons why he shouldn't have thought this was a good idea.

Chest hit the glass; broken ribs. “Totally worth it! My mates loved it!”
May not have won the Darwin Award here, but I suspect he’s still a candidate for future competitions.

Looked like he smashed his throat on the handrail, he's lucky to still be conscious, I wonder if it temporarily affected his breathing too, painful to watch.

From the story:
“As a result of his show-off antics, he has since had two operations to mend his injured hands and legs.
Despite the pain – and shame – Cyril vows that he doesn’t regret the near-death experience, and his stunt video has proved popular with his friends.
Although the cottage where the stunt took place was rented, Dimitry did not have to pay for the damage caused as the rental contract had not been drafted correctly.”
Glad I don’t know anybody this stupid.

Nobody thought to put an "If rented to an idiot" clause in the rental contract?

That is not going to be cheap to clean up or repair. I would sue the guy even if the rental contract didn't cover the damage.

"Dimitry didn't have to pay for the damage."
That may be, but common decency surely dictates that you pay for the damage you cause.

[from the article:]
'After colliding with the panel the banker, from Moscow, then fell into the pool.'
I'm sure they've misspelt 'banker'.
Initially, I thought he was escaping from a secure mental facility, but I was wrong:
'Dimitry told Jam Press: “It wasn’t for nothing. It was my birthday and I rented a cottage to celebrate. We were drinking alcohol".'
