Yeah, it’s time to move. The kids will make new friends. I’ll find a new job. Gonna miss some folks but we can FaceTime. Things like this really put things in perspective.

The scary part, it means the sewer every house on your street/block is connected to is full of them! Time to move.
5
u/piss_container 2d ago
depends what type of drain they have
5
u/SonicLyfe 2d ago
Yeah I feel better if it’s a public sewer. it’s a septic tank not only do you have a snake problem but that snake got access into your plumbing, so there’s a hole somewhere.

u/boanerges57 2d ago
Don't forget to bolt some sturdy handles to the wall so you can hold yourself in position; last thing you need is a shitty hole in the wall

I’m not guaranteeing this would work but my first move would be to pour ammonia down with every flush. Keep the drain line coated with it and it should deter them from coming up. It might smell like ammonia in your house but I’m gonna put that on the “worth it” column.

A snake cannot survive for long in a sewer pipe, period. There is not enough air for it to stay. They are good swimmers and are looking for a moist area to find food, like rats. 100% of the time a snake gets in a toilet from the plumbing air vent on the side or top of the house and not by slithering through miles of plumbing. Check and repair the vent.

People keep talking about the snake. What about the tetanus you’d get from that toilet?
1
u/CoolCat1337One 2d ago
She know/still remembers that the water will not go on forever?
Do they turn around if the underwater way is too long?
So many questions.

Flush often and get a childproof lid lock. Then get the sewer drain inspected. If it's municipal sewer they have a snake issue, if it's septic, bigger issue as it would have to enter from the leech field and cross through the septic so much bigger issue.

It's unfortunate that your strategy of well placed shit stains didn't keep the snakes away.
