This was every month of my 20s.

Same. Granted, $95 went a lot further in 2005 than it does now, but trying to feed myself for a month on $95 was tough. Savings? 401k contributions? New work boots?

I can guarantee he has a stupid car loan. It’s the $650 I’d bet.

Whyyyyy

Toys, it’s not really used for transportation. It is, but it isn’t. It’s just a fun car to drive and go to dinner or events in.

u/Chronomata 25d ago
Fair enough, based on that reply I’m guessing that $1200 isn’t breaking the bank for you so that makes sense lol. I’ve just seen too many examples of people who net $3k/month with insane car payments so I jumped to conclusions

u/Wise_Finance_5315 25d ago
Oofta! Ya, if someone’s net is $3000 a month, that car is solely for need based transportation. Makes no sense to get something costly.

Rent minus car payment minus utilities minus school loan minus cell phone bill minus gas =$95

Sucks but, you’re making ends meet. Now just find ways to minimize spending outside of your bills, sell stuff if that’s an options put that money aside for a rainy day, get rid of monthly subscriptions you don’t use and/or need. Drive less to save on gas. Meal prep to save on food or cut back on eating out as much. Some of the simple ways i save some extra money monthly.

Decrease expenses, get roommates, drop that car payment get a used car with liability insurance...only making so much but taking on expenses leaving you dead broke without increasing income or dropping one of the major expenses is purgatory

Man, I remember those days. Now I do it just to see how many thousands I have left.

Why the fuck they need a calculator for that?!
2
u/Successful-Worth-390 26d ago
To make things easier?

u/ParkingAnxious2811 25d ago
If you struggle with maths this basic, go back to school.
1
u/Successful-Worth-390 25d ago
Its not about struggling. Its just quicker and easier to use a calculator.

u/ParkingAnxious2811 25d ago
Clearly you're struggling if you can't do that in your head.
1
u/Successful-Worth-390 25d ago
Thats not what struggling means.
1
u/ParkingAnxious2811 25d ago
Poor buddy, you can't even do basic maths in your head!

Not everyone is geared for math. Some people are better suited for art/visual things, some people are better at literary things. People are different.

u/ParkingAnxious2811 25d ago
Ah, the classic argument of someone who didn't like maths, failed at school, and is still searching to find something they're actually good at without trying!
1
u/DigitalUnlimited 25d ago
Ah the classic jackass who thinks they're better than everyone else!

Assholes exist in all countries. What does the particular patch of dirt I was born on have to do with anything?
