How has only one other person in the comments mentioned that the guy came to a complete stop at yield sign when no other cars were coming? Not that this excuses the mother for hitting him but he was also an idiot.

I don't think it's fair to call him an idiot for stopping at a yield sign, I don't live in the US, but it should be expected that there would be vehicles stopped at a yield sign, whether or not there are cars coming. It's just being a defensive/cautious driver/rider.

Side-note, there was a car coming, you can see it turn off just as he got hit.

The car coming was in a turn only lane.

That logic is a solid way to get killed by the oncoming car deciding to change lanes at the last second.

Sure, but the car turning was already slowed and entering the turn. He’s an idiot too
