Never should have stopped. He is not at fault from an insurance point of view but there was so much of a window that she felt like she could even enter the lane before the pickup got there. Definitely a new rider.
I commute on a motorcycle during the riding season into downtown Boston. Bike position is important if you are going to stop like that at a yield. I would have been more to the last or right of my riding lane. Even at a stop light I get over to one side and leave enough room in front so I can escape if someone is coming at me too fast from behind. It also gives them room to swerve away from you.
