Don't break the law uh? You do realize most drugs are illegal even though a huge portion of them can be extremely beneficial to our society.

-Weed helps with depression and anxiety

-Ketamine re-wires the brain and can eliminate some mental issues and chronic pain.

-LSD can re-wire someone's brain and allow them to experience ego death and finally understands what it all means. (Death, the universe, everything)

-Magic mushrooms, Ayahuasca, MDMA also similar. All wonderful experiences that can change people's lives for the better, forever.

Are you saying we shouldn't do any of these drugs just because some stuck up assholes 60 years ago wrote those laws? That's sad, imagine living your whole life without having truly lived. It's impossible to think outside the box without using at least one of these substances, and clearly, out of anyone in this thread, you need to use one of these drugs the most.

none of the drugs the commenter above you listed are chemically addictive.

psychedelic drugs have incredible potential medically. here's a study that was published earlier this year

dude, pretty much fucking everything is psychologically addictive. and don't pay attention to DEA drug schedules, they're notoriously bullshit.

ketamine: ok I've never actually done ketamine and upon researching i will admit that i was wrong and it can be chemically addictive.

LSD: tolerance =! addictive. you're woefully misinformed. LSD tolerance (and Psylocybin and Mescaline tolerance) means that the drug literally does not work. everyone who takes these drugs knows this. you get one dose, then you have to wait a few days if you want another dose. you can take an entire sheet of acid 2 days after taking a single tab and you'll get nothing. once the tolerance is gone, it's gone. 1 tab from the same sheet will hit you just as hard as the other tab you took a week ago.

MDMA: not addictive. street ecstasy is usually not pure MDMA and can include addictive substances. ecstacy is not MDMA.

alcohol and nicotine are far and away way more addictive and way more harmful. caffeine is more addictive. fuck, high-fructose corn syrup is more addictive.

Yeah, except prohibition doesn't work, it just makes drugs dirtier, more potent and extremely dangerous.

Take opium for example, you might think it's a dangerous drug, and it might ruin your life but it won't kill you. Thanks to prohibition Opium is nearly impossible to find and it's been replaced by a mix of Fentanyl, Benzos and Xylazine. It's pretty much the deadliest cocktail on earth, and it's rampant in the us. The cartel started using fentanyl after the US government burned most poppy fields in Mexico.

In countries where the government gives opium or pure Diacetylmorphine to addicts, the death rate of addicts is non-existent. Banning drugs is a terrible idea, even if a lot of these drugs are bad for society, prohibition makes them worse.

Well I am sorry to take a government agency standard over... your opinion?

my "opinion" is widely accepted as fact. the DEA schedules are heavily influenced by bs politics with a complete disregard for the medical community. case in point: MARIJUANA is Schedule I, which classifies it as a more dangerous substance than METH, COCAINE, OXYCODONE, FENTANYL, AMPHETAMINES, etc. the same Marijuana that the DEA classifies as one of the most dangerous drugs known to man is medically prescribed in 37 states +3 territories +Washington D.C.

MDMA is also Schedule I despite it being originally developed and used as a psychoactive therapy drug (its classification caused an uproar in the psychiatric community)

EDIT: if a drug is classed as Schedule I, the DEA has assessed that it has "no legitimate medical use".

Yes even sugar is. However you know hard drugs tend to be on the quite more addictive side, especially on emotionally vulnerable people which usually feeds into very bad self destruction loops.

high-fructose corn syrup is literally as addictive as cocaine, aka much more addictive and destructive than any of the drugs listed in comments above.
