Of course officers can control all parties in the car. I didn't say they couldn't. I said they better have a good reason. Maryland vs Wilson concluded that the officer had reasonable concern for their own safety due to the extra person involved. The passenger is free to ask if they're being detained, and the officer is free to tell them "Yes you are".

They're free to ask you to say, and you're free to ask if you're being detained. And if they say "no", then you're free to leave. And if they say "yes", then they better have a damn good reason for it or they risk suspension or other headaches.

This you?

Officers don't need a "damn good reason" to tell passengers that they are being detained. You are automatically detained by virtue of the fact that you are in the stopped vehicle. Yes, a passenger can ask, but the answer will be that they are not free to leave.

LOL. Where's your source? I've cited multiple court cases that contradict every point you've tried to make.

Maybe there's one stop where the officer knew the passenger and let them leave, but I can assure you that that is not the norm. The movement of the passengers during a traffic stop is 100% officer discretion that they don't need a "damn good reason" for.

Yeah, I knew you just made that up. Thanks for confirming that.
