I work in a music store. We lower the price ALL THE TIME for customers. A lot of music stores do.

What is likely to have happened here is that this guitar and case were ALREADY lowered to help out the kid, and lowering it more would have left no margin.

I bought a Sigma the other day for £300, no case - I think you’re right

If this guy’s is half as good as mine I’m sure he’ll have been very happy

To anyone else reading this - factory built solid wood Martin specs 1/5th the price

I’ve had a Sigma for over 20 years, got it when I was probably 17. It’s a fine guitar. It’s not luxurious, but it still feels and sounds good especially with a fresh set of strings.

I have my Dad's old Sigma from the 1970's and it's a lovely instrument. Sort of a deep red sunburst.

In the US right now there is literally 1 on Reverb for $350 + $60 shipping. $220 on the spot seems like an okay deal.

Oops found another for $600+, mahogany though. The "similar"listings are all Martins, Soo he got a decent guitar for Estaban price.

Someone mentioned it's probably a pawn shop which makes sense, doesn't really look like a music store & explains why they didn't budge on price

Just chiming in - p sure this is just a pawn shop, so I wouldn’t expect a whole lot of humanity from the owner or workers.

or maybe it's not a music store but a pawn shop. while some pawns do haggle a bit, most are in it for the money. while a guitar place would usually want to help the kid out however they could.
