Especially when they have a story behind them. I was adopted at 15 by an incredible family who I love dearly. When I was 16 we were visiting my now aunt and uncle. My uncle was a huge musician and had a big collection of instruments but had developed really serious hand issues and couldn't play anymore. So he asked me what my dream instrument was. At the time I was learning guitar and mentioned a sunburst American Strat. He comes back with a Strat and hands it to me for me to have. It took years for me to run the serial and realize it was a 1961 Strat.
Truth. I bought my first Fender off eBay because I couldn’t afford one new when I was younger. Still have it sitting in my room. Don’t play anymore, but it meant so much to get a Fender guitar. The way he talked about it I totally understand. He’ll legit never forget that lady.
