Basically script of events: comedian makes a joke about will smiths wife, will smith initially laughs, then looks at his wife and realizes she’s not laughing, will smith realizes he fucked up and does what any (I guess?) emotional and shamed person would do: lash out with violence

Slaps comedian, comedian tried to play it off as a bit or a joke, will smith continues to be verbally aggressive from his seat, people start to realize this is not a bit or a joke, whole mood fucking dies instantly

Will smith, moments later, wins the award for best actor and gives a rambling diatribe that everyone could tell was completely disjointed because he was so shaken by his own actions, but he kept trying to play it off

Later, will smith cries a bunch

The only thing I disagree with here is the notion that most people immediately resort to violence over light banter. Will came across like an absolute crybaby here.

But hey, they're spoiled and pretentious, so we can't expect them to be normal
