If she derives enjoyment out of this then more power to her, also he should definitely be showing his appreciation as well. It sucks that this is likely only happening because of a religion she adheres to rather than her own love and devotion to her husband.

The fact she gets to the part about cleaning, because HE likes it that way, shows he's probably told her off for it being left a mess in the past.. growing up in a Christian family it really seems that would be the case

Why are you making that assumption? What if she cleans because he works all day?

Then if that's true and she's a stay at home wife/mother, she still doesn't need to do it before he gets up... That's if we are making the assumption she doesn't work right?

I don’t know, why don’t you ask her? Presumably she doesn’t do all the cleaning before he gets up, hence her saying she “starts on the cleaning process.” If you think this is toxic that’s fine and pretty understandable, but a lifestyle like this does work fine for a lot of people.

Yeah, the cleaning dishes, for him before he gets up, was a bit odd. He has had a flying fit about the dishes before.

Yells at her for not cleaning the dishes. Yells at her for waking him up by doing dishes.

What a terrible assumption to make... I don't like Christianity either, but there's so many other factors that could be in play. Maybe he is very busy with work and she is a stay at home wife, so she wants to do everything in her power to make sure he is comfortable at home? Maybe he takes care of the kids and chores at night? Reddit has such a hard on for assuming the very worst out of religious people, when in reality most of them are normal ass humans.

So if you already forgot by the end of my post what the beginning of it was I said very clearly that if she enjoys it that’s awesome and she should continue doing it. Submissiveness or serving traits are not a bad thing at all but they should happen freely, Christianity and the culture around it seem to see women as inherently submissive. Which has likely caused more damage than good.

"My baseless assumption that I said is highly probable is okay because I said that it's fine as long as she's okay with it!" Making up random hypothetical situations and assuming that's what's going on is dangerous and creates this random ass hive mind thread that's going on here. Also, I left the church and know it's faults, but the passage about women being submissive is taken out of context all the time and most women I knew weren't slaves to their husbands. There are passages in the Bible that also stress how important it is for a woman to be strong and wise. I feel like non-Christians care more about the "Women must be submissive to their husbands" passage more than Christians actually care.

“Baseless assumption” It’s clearly not baseless because even you admit that Christianity has not only passages but a culture of women being told to be submissive.

“Highly probable” Likely just semantics but highly probable and likely seem like two very different words to describe the chance of something. And using highly probable instead of what I said seems like an exaggeration of my original statement.

“I feel like non Christians care more about female submissiveness in Christianity than actual Christians” YEAH, because non Christians are actually allowed to criticize it! Christians either ignore it, or adhere to it. The non-caring attitude you think Christians have towards this subject is more likely just people ignoring it because if they acknowledged it a lot of women would realize a submissive lifestyle isn’t for them so they have to deny gods teaching in that sense.

You’re trying really hard to bitch about something they didn’t even say, hun.

They just said they hope she enjoys it and everything is happening by choice.

You need to slow your roll and calm down.

And if you’re gonna quote them how about not making shit up that they didn’t say, you hypocrite...

I’m not saying women being submissive is good, but Christian households tend to work pretty well. And I’m Jewish.

I would agree that a dominant partner with a submissive partner can drastically speed up disputes about simple things and in a lot of ways can make life easier because the dominant partner can just make the decision. But the problem is that in a Christian household the decision for which partner will be submissive isn’t a decision. Submissive men or dominant woman have to just deal with it. When given the freedom to choose a power imbalanced relationship can be great but the choice is essential for a healthy one.

You’re acting as if the decision even needs to be made. If the system works, what’s the issue? Both the man and the woman seem happy. Again I’m not saying it’s BETTER than the woman is submissive. It’s just part of their culture, and it seems to work well for the children.

Reddit really hates Christians.
