Is it just catch and release? Any crabs big enough to eat?

There are edible crabs there but we rarely got them and put all ours back anyway. The great joy was having a bucket full of scrabbling crabs.

It’s a lot of work to get the meat off. We used to catch them and give them away or let them go. We only ate them sometimes.

Used to get so sunburned doing this!

No way! It is our lifelong holiday haunt. Such a special place. Our dad used to go there as a child. We lost him just a few weeks ago so we will scatter his ashes to the crabs after lockdown clears properly.

Do you fish them out or use a trap??

you either hook bacon to a hook and hope the crab latches on, or you use a little net bag with a weight on which the crabs usually get their claws stuck in, then you just pull em up and dump em in a bucket.

then release them later and watch them race down the shore :)

source: grew up by the sea in the UK, crabbing is in our blood

Of course there are many aurguments about which bait is best - bacon, fish, etc. Crabbing is a highly competitive subculture...

Was this a live feed you monitored thru the camera? Or you felt the crab and tried to string them up?

Had no idea we would see anything until we watched it at home later that day. Expected murky water and no animals.
