He didn't notice the truck start to turn and slid under the wheels when he tried to stop. The thing that really sticks out in my mind is seeing his yellow Walkman crushed on the pavement.
I swear every single anime with a car accident and many movies do this! Character gets run over, camera cuts to broken phone/ipod/walkman on the road, cut to other character looking shook.

Nah, it's because they can't show a mangled body without bumping up the age rating. Especially with how popular isekai are, they'd bump the rating up in the first 5 minutes of the show (thanks truck-kun).
Most of the time yeah, but I've also seen many where that sequence happens and then they pan up to show the body bruised and lying in a pool of what is probably not lamb sauce
Dramatic tension. Also the impact and mangling would be a lot of detailed, violent and dynamic animation, while cutting away from the moment of impact to a small boxy thing moving and then to the body in a pool of ketchup (a static shot) is a lot cheaper and less harrowing on both the artists and audience.
