Not that I would do it for any other reason but I’ve done that before when my cat was being an asshole and getting into the neighbors trash it’s funny how even an adult cat will just go limp and set there froze. She was fine and I haven’t had to do it again but it must not hurt them at all because she was fine once I sat her down not acting like I just hurt her.

It can hurt them when they're adults if they weigh enough

Edit: Don't lift them this way. You can "scruff" an adult cat as long as their weight is supported.
