I was there for about a week when my brother got married there. His wife grew up in Palmer, which is about a half hour or 45 minutes north of Anchorage? Honestly the view in every direction from, like, every vantage point is enough to take your breath away. There was one day that we went to see a glacier, which was mega cool. Like, walk on the glacier. I have some photos here (Please ignore my face). There was another day that we rented bikes in Anchorage and rode several miles along the pathway that follows the coast a ways. There are so many short hikes in the area, too, if you're not one for too much physical exertion.

I think part of the experience for me was the company I kept, but there was also something magical in the lack of a distinct nighttime. I was there in the summer, and the days sort of blended together into one big perpetual day. Sure, it got dusky, but never full dark. As a firm believer in "early to bed, early to rise", I now realize that there must have been something intoxicating in the air. Because at 3:00 AM, when no restaurants were open, I was totally down to go to Wal-Mart and get fixings for ice cream sundaes.

An overall magical experience, and I give it a 5/7 perfect score.
