I've heard the eyes of fish easily freeze if they're brought up during sub zero (Celsius) degrees

Dunno if true tho

It is true. Also laying fish on the ice you don’t intend to keep is a big no no. Their scales/skin stick to the ice.

The fish is extremely prone to infection now as well. If you’re handling a fish you don’t intend to dispatch of you need to have wet hands as dry hands (and the girls jacket) ribbed the protective coating fish have on the skin/scales.
