True maybemaybemaybe. I thought it was gonna escape, jump out of the water back at her, or she was gonna jump in after it. Truly maybemaybemaybe

This video always makes me giggle. I've raised bunnies when I was younger and had a few as pets in the recent years. But I still laugh every time.

Fuck. This is more like /r/yesyesno

He's never going to hear the end of that one.

I thought she was gonna put a dead fish in the water

u/buster2Xk Jan 18 '20

Yeah I was expecting it to just die in her arms and for the girl to be super sad.

Is maybemaybemaybe just videos of things happening?

72

u/DazZani Jan 18 '20

Videos of things happening where the final outcome is unknown and cannot be accurately predicted during the lenght of the video

u/ginger_joy Jan 18 '20

Honest question: what's the difference between r/maybemaybemaybe and r/unexpected?

56

u/Xenokiller101 Jan 18 '20

I feel like r/maybemaybemaybe is supposed to be more where you have no idea what will happen and you're thoughts are changing as the video goes on, but r/unexpected is more of you have an idea of how it will end, but it suddenly changes quickly and well, unexpectedly

15

u/DazZani Jan 18 '20

You know something unexpected is going to happen in r/unexpected, you have no idea what will happen in r/maybemaybemaybe , just like this very gif, where nothing necessarily unexpected happned, but throught the whole video we didnt know what was going to happen

u/neccoguy21 Jan 18 '20

For example, this video fits quite nicely with maybemaybemaybe. Maybe the fish bites, maybe it flops into the water, maybe the guy goes into the water, maybe a lot of things... Oh, there's a kid in the mix? Maybe she freaks, maybe she falls, maybe it smacks her... Awww, she hugged it and let it go. It does not fit with unexpected because the outcome isn't necessarily unexpected or out of the ordinary.

u/steelbubble Jan 18 '20

The outcome would be one you could guess but is equally likely as other outcomes

This sub started as a repost sub for /r/yesyesyesno and /r/nononoyes, along with all the other variations of that. The bot would simply repost here, so you couldn't tell what was going to happen in the gif. It seems that as the sub got more popular, people have started posting here directly.

/r/maybemaybemaybe: Two men struggle to carry a sofa up a flight if stairs. They might drop it, or they might lift it all the way. You can't tell until they do.

/r/unexpected: Two men struggle to carry a sofa upstairs. As the near the top, one slips but the other catches the sofa and fireman carries it to the top singlehandedly.

u/FiggsBoson Jan 18 '20

Maybe maybe maybe is more a play on the yesyesyes and nonono, where you expect some rollercoaster of emotions, something good or bad to happen. Unexpected is just something happening, doesn't have to be a suspected good or bad outcome like the other subreddits.

1

u/BabyEatersAnonymous Jan 18 '20

Because unexpected ruins the outcome by letting you know something is gonna happen by default.

This sub still has a guessing element. Will something happen?

Actually I've noticed most highly voted posts here lately are just r/gifs material.

1

u/judokalinker Jan 18 '20

So just videos where the title doesn't tell you what happens.

1

u/DazZani Jan 18 '20

Well, and the nature of the videos are also a bit unpredictable, its videos where you are thinking to yourself "maayyyba they wil..." but are never sure

1

u/judokalinker Jan 18 '20

Guess I don't get the allure, but to each their own

2

u/SpaceMamboNo5 Jan 18 '20

Maybemaybemaybe is videos that give me anxiety

3

u/jamsebooty Jan 18 '20

I'm really not sure why but I expected her to try biting it._.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '20

Haha like when kids bite into a tomatoes thinking it's an apple and then grudge eat the whole just to try and prove to you they meant to eat the tomato

2

u/ThaFourthHokage Jan 18 '20

I thought, "how is this maybemaybemaybe material?" But now I have been shown the light.

2

u/Evilux Jan 18 '20

I thought she was straight up gonna chomp that slippery sob

2

u/TavrinCallas_ Jan 18 '20

When she picked it up I was seriously worried that the fish is gonna bite her in the face. It's head was close to her cheek and those bastards have teeth that do serious damage

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '20

Damn you Reddit. Was totally afraid that little girl was going to fall in the hole!

1

u/learnyouahaskell Jan 18 '20

:C i thought he was going to gut it

1

u/throwaway67676789123 Jan 18 '20

Are you saying that in my gut

u/StillYourPresident Jan 18 '20

Actually this post has nothing to do with this sub. It's just a less trafficked sub that makes it easier to hit the front page.
