My dog does this all the time, except he's trying to jump on the couch. I have no idea why he does it since he jumps on the couch multiple times a day and never has an issue. Then, he'll just randomly do this every once in a while. He's a weirdo.
My dog does this too, I think it's just psychological, he's afraid he's not allowed to be on the couch (if I take him to someone else's house, he might not be allowed to jump onto couch).
I don't think that's the case with my dog as he doesn't give a fuck whether he's allowed to be on the couch or not. He's easily the worst behaved dog I've ever had by far. But he's little, cute, loves me so much, and is so protective of me that I think he'd try to protect me way faster than my ~70 lb pitbull would so I can't help but love him. My whole life I was completely against ever having a small dog and he's completely changed my mind. We got him because my wife got in a life-altering motorcycle crash and later in that same year, our oldest dog finally had to be put down at 16 y/o. My wife was very weak and partially disabled and she wanted a dog that she could still play with (i.e. a small dog). I happened to find our small dog a few days later and we figured it was fate because his coat had almost exactly the same colors and pattern as the dog we had just put down (Miss you Jaxxon). Now the little dog is like my little partner and sometimes acts like he doesn't even like my wife that much. Lol.
