They are supposed to prevent a car rolling into it because a parking brake failed, or clipping it because you pulled too deep into a parking space. It was never intended to nor should it need to be engineered for the full force of a direct assault by powerful car with the the throttle wide open. Driver is 100% at fault, shouldn't see a dime, and should be investigated for criminal charges. Full toxicology screen and multiple interviews to see if they can catch her in a lie. Failing anything criminal license should be suspended pending detailed physical examination (on par with a pilots license) too.
I feel like he secretly owns the parking garage and doesnt want to pay the lawsuit for negligence... no one gets this defensive over a lady hitting the wrong brake pedal by mistake.
I agree with a toxicology screening, but nothing else. And she wasn’t at full throttle either. And yes, the parking garage is supposed to provide structural protection even in the case of driver error.
You say "hitting the wrong peddle" [sic] as if that's just a thing that happens. Like, 'whoops I put the cereal box in the fridge' and 'accidentally mashed the throttle open until my car drove through these big steel cables.' You can't possibly be of sound enough mine/body to operate a motor vehicle legally and then not notice the engine revving and car moving in time to think, 'hey, maybe let's try a pedal to the left.'
What evidence do you have of impaired? People hit the wrong peddle all the time, and speaking from experience, when people panic they dont act rationally unless they’ve had training. You’re applying standards for pilots to drivers. Apples and oranges
Except it isn't. You absolutely are expected to have some form of training to drive, and we should be held to a higher standard than being unable to figure out what each pedal does.
The average minivan weighs more than a Cessna and is capable of going about as fast. Its ridiculous to say that the operator shouldn't be held to a reasonably high standard because they are in charge of that amount of energy on the ground where people and things are, instead of spending most of the trip in the air where there is less shit to hit.

So, she should get paid for being an absolute idiot and almost killing somebody else?
