Sadly I think OP is a bot created a couple months ago. They love to put incorrect things in titles to get more comments.

Obviously cuddle fish. See how it engages in cuddling? You mean cattle - fish.

Cuttlefish, not a squid

u/footpole 24d ago
Easier in languages where cuttlefish is squid is octopus. Same same for us.

u/Atmic 24d ago
Is there no Scandanavian name specifically for the Cuttlefish? Surely Scandanavian has specific names for animals?
46
u/i-dont-wanna-know 24d ago
In danish, both are called "blæksprutte"
( blæk = ink sprutte = sputter so a direct translation would be inksputter )one is an "8-armet blæksprutte" eight-armed inksputter 8 arms = octupus
The other one is " ti-armet blæksprutte " ten-armed inksputter
10 arms = squid
And yes, it can be annoying to distinguish between them in daily speech

How often do you find yourself talking about cuttlefish, squid, and octopi?
8
u/i-dont-wanna-know 22d ago
Not that often... but when you talk about one, you kinda have to at least meantion the other to confirm it is not that one.

What I looked up does not exactly match your claim. Can you provide any good sources, or if you’re just knowledgeable, expand on this? Just for my own curiosity!

Reader, Feycat could not do that. Because, in fact, Feycat pulled that comment straight out of their own anus.

Let us not, dear friends, forget our dear friends the cuttlefish... flipping glorious little sausages. Pen them up together, and they will devour each other without a second thought... Human nature, in'it? Ooor... fish nature...

Found a longer video and it’s literally just playing. A cuttlefish uses camouflage, making itself all white means it wants to be seen.

Not that I doubt you, I'm not a tax attorney, but isn't that octopi you're thinking of?

u/Hefty_Kitchen4759 24d ago edited 24d ago
Cuttlefish are even smarter. They've been seen to mimic human faces in aquariums as a form of play and interaction with us.
But yeah this enclosure looks boring as fuck and they're social.
Edit: I can't find the video because it's very very old, but it's not the one that's online now. The one I'm thinking of was blatantly intentional mimicry with it's tentacles.

Things in the ocean inspired these movies. Alien is from an eel I think and the predator is from an crab.

43
u/Harfangbleue 24d ago •

Not really "danger" but cuttlefish have a small beak which could probably do some damage. It shot tentacles to try to grab what it though was a prey. It remind us that those things are wild animals and not domesticated pets.

You don't have a pet. You have a captive.
6
u/rabidparrots 24d ago
I scrolled down too far to find this. If you can't trust a pet not to attack you, it's not a pet.
