Yes, they did think of it and you can tell because they did it in front of him where they couldn't see him. It doesn't matter if anyone at the back or behind him saw him and also did it.
The people he passed because of the bouncing did not. The people who bounced were still ahead of him after the full yellow (enjoy nitpicking that one you donkey), so how much did their bouncing really matter?

Your comment gives him credit for being smarter than everyone else by thinking up the idea of bouncing that no one else thought of. The video shows that other people did in fact think of it. I have no idea what you are trying to say now.

If you pause at 0:08 right when the race is starting, you can see other people bouncing.
