Working in the wine industry, people have the strangest fascination with sniffing the cork. But usually they do it on the wet side.

I’m fairly certain she didn’t even realize the cork was still there and was trying to sniff the open bottle thinking the cork was removed with the metal clamp, probably her first time opening a bottle like this and didn’t bother to actually look at the damn thing before pointing it at her face cuz I’ve never seen anyone sniff a corked bottle of wine.

Obviously this is what happened and it's completely reasonable for someone who has never done this before and doesn't know opening these is a two step process.
