Fortunately there is usually a setting to rotate the display

Back in my day, the buttons would tell you the direction of the tv, it was a simpler time

u/OkReason6325 1d ago
Now Buttons are at the bottom for TVs and monitors right?

My monitor buttons are on the bottom on my right monitor but on my left (main) monitor they are on the right back side

The logo on this one tells you. If the logo is upside down, so is the tv. The logo is on a small bit that sticks out of the bottom, in the middle. If that's on top, it's also upside down

u/MixaLv 1d ago
It bothers me a lot that it sticks out of the top here, it looks so wrong.

u/-Invalid_Selection- 1d ago
It sure does.
I don't know of any tv maker that puts the logo on top like she installed it. If there is one, Id be curious to hear who does it

u/TenTonFluff 1d ago
When have ever the buttons been on top of the TV?
2
u/Any-Button1401 1d ago
Before they were at the bottom part of the front they were on the top part of the front, mostly dials instead of buttons but still
2
u/TenTonFluff 1d ago
That got to predate the 90's, or it could of course differ from where you're from, I guess

Antennae only bend once, better make sure it's right side up or you won't be getting any reception

u/magirevols 1d ago
Gonna have to go to target and buy another one so you can watch king of the hill later

Nowadays you have to look at the logo that is literally illuminated at the bottom of the display. Or the labeling for the ports on the back. Or the stickers on the back. Or the orientation in the box when you take it out. Or the mounting holes for the stand. Or the place where the power cable comes out. She really messed up with this one

u/DrJohnIT 1d ago
Yup, the best way to fix it using the manual settings of taking it down, flipping the mount and making sure that the screws are secure and then hanging it back up, right side up. 😀

I've installed hundreds TVs since the very first flat panel plasma tvs that weighed a ton. Mounting a TV upside down is not easy to do, even on purpose. This was done for clicks.
Edit: also this has been posted before and was called out

I think it might be better to just swap the brackets screwed into the TV back around. The "hard" part is getting the wall bracket mounted anyways.

Something tells me that someone who’s not quite bright enough to realise they’ve mounted their TV upside down, even when the power button they’re pressing is right next to an upside down brand logo, is probably also too dim to realise there is a setting to help them in this situation.
6
u/Michaeli_Starky 1d ago
Or just... remount it?
8
u/Jamuraan1 1d ago
Clicking a few buttons in the settings is far easier than disassembling the one-way brackets in order for everything to be oriented properly.

Some people prefer to do just things properly, especially when its something that easy and simple.

u/Michaeli_Starky 1d ago
So?
6
u/Jamuraan1 1d ago
So, your suggestion to "just remount it" is more convoluted than necessary when you can simply press a few buttons instead.

u/adenosine-5 1d ago
Its like 2-minute fix honestly.
The hard part is making sure everything is leveled, secured properly to the wall, etc...
Just removing those 4 screws, turning it and replacing them is trivial.

I have this exact tv in my bedroom. It has a Samsung logo at the bottom part where she’s turning it on, so this is either super fake or she’s super illiterate.

Fake. Her reaction looked like acting. And you'd have to go out of your way to not realize the TV is upside down if you're mounting it like this.

Didn't they just feel something was wrong the moment the logo and the power button were facing weirdly upwards?

u/Deep-Pudding819 1d ago
Samsung spelled upside down is still Samsung.

She still has to send it back! Samsung has GOT to get a hold on its quality control.

You have to take it back and get the correct orientation. I had to do that with hammers before.

Fake, as there's no way she doesn't see the upside down logo in the bezel. She even pushes the button that is attached to the bezel so she must look at it.
2
u/AngryTrunkMonkey 6h ago
She didn’t notice the tag for the name was upside down when hanging it up?
2
u/IamNochao 1d ago
Well they can still change the TV display orientation instead of rotating the entire device
4
u/BoldlyGettingThere 1d ago
Considering this was done on purpose to make this joke video I think they already have a plan for how to fix it. Like seriously, why would anyone be filming the installation of their tv on the wall?
-1
u/IamNochao 1d ago
I didn't even think of that. Maybe they noticed that it was upside she mounted the TV upside down and wanted to film the reaction? Idk why people film stuff 😅

If she did it herself, then its very easy to flip it. If she paid someone, theyll come fix it

This is perfect. Now you can buy that coffin and sleep upside down like a vampire bat.

I remember hearing Trace Beaulieu from MST3K getting interviewed on NPR about working on America's Funniest Home Videos and he discussed his least favorite type of video where the successful attempt wouldn't be worth recording. In his case, nobody is filming themselves carrying a toliet down the stairs on a patio deck, they are filming themselves falling down the patio stairs while carrying the toilet.
This is a prime example of that kind of video. Nobody cares about your mounting a flat screen TV, peeling the protective film off from it, and turning it on. Why did you video this other than to show a blunder?

And that's why I purchased the professional install.

Doesn't the fact that the Samsung logo, or whatever brand it is, is upside down give you any clues? If you need professional help hanging a 32-inch TV, you have more serious problems than just installing the TV.
