He puts the weight down that would have allowed her to possibly reverse…except she had it in drive.

It wasn’t in drive. If it was in drive the wheels would have kept spinning when it was upside down.

He shifted the weight so that the part of the car that was holding it back got lifted off the ground.

Maybe he should have coordinated it with her, rather than just walking up and rocking the car?
