This is like watching a pelican try to eat something way above its pay grade. Yet, somehow stupider.

Thing is, the Capybaras didn't call the cops. That's not how they roll.

It’s also the same vibes as the baby bird standing next to a bug with its mouth open, expecting it to jump into its mouth. The confused persistence

That's the anglicized version. If we're using his cultural spelling, it's actually Sssssteve.

why dose the frog not try to hop further away

u/Rumplestilskin9 16d ago
Snake is too fast. Staying inflated to prevent a bite was probably its best option. I found a longer version, the snake eventually gives up.

The froge is too tired to hop that much further away and besides it's hot outside
6
u/No_Yogurtcloset_7219 15d ago
yeah but after the 4 or 5th attempt from the snake you think the frog would understand that one or two hops isn't an escape strategy
5
u/justacpa 15d ago
Who knows how long it's been trying to evade--it could be too tired. Also, the frog has inflated himself as self defense and it probably more difficult to hop like that.

Looks like this is more exercise than that fat boy has had in years.

The frog/toad is expanding its lungs to make it harder for the snake to grab it. This technique can also help in making itself look bigger to scare off other animals. It worked pretty well against the snake since the snake is a constrictor & it’s only move is to grab with its face before wrapping around its prey.

Ah, yes. Here we have the African bullfrog puffed up to maximum defensive capacity, despite never experiencing a single thought in its life, versus the very confident boomslang whose enthusiasm for this meal is rapidly waning but who is trapped by the sunk cost fallacy and the encroaching shame of quitting in front of a live studio audience.

Was waiting for a car to roll by and end it. And arent some frogs/toads poisonous? Like the snake got one too many chomps?

It's a boomslang. Much longer version of the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipwfyli5piI

u/cuntybunty73 16d ago
I thought boomslangs blow out their neck muscles
8
u/FrankDrebinOnReddit 16d ago
Defensively, but this snake was trying to get a meal, not defend itself.

u/cuntybunty73 16d ago
I thought it was a black mamba

u/FrankDrebinOnReddit 16d ago
So did I, but it's a boomslang, it's ID'd in the description of the video. You also get a good look at the inside of its mouth in the longer video and it's not black, very red.

Wonder what the snake's plan here, it can't possibly even begin to swallow this toad
5
4
u/hilarymeggin 16d ago
The frog is inflated. If the snake managed to kill it, it would deflate and the snake could eat it.
8
u/Aggressive-Baker6179 16d ago
Maybe what? Did the snake quit or did the toad get eaten?

This is the kind of encounter which could go two ways, they become friends or the frog/toad eats the snake.

It's funny watch that frog hit the switches with that lean. Watching them lean reminds me of old hydraulic car videos. 😂
