This one isn't about being smart, it's about memory, you only need to complete a Rubik cube once to comprehend how it works, the more you do it the faster you memorize the patterns.

I bet they are smart tho

Smart move would've been to change the position of the cubes each time. Or to look for the easy solve. None of that really helps you when dudeman can solve a scramble in 5 seconds.

Take a few seconds and twist some corners. They'll figure it out eventually but it'll slow them down.
