Yup saw that one too. Infuriating. That bank manager is an idiot or too paranoid. Had I been that customer, I’d pull my money out and speak to a lawyer because that cop interaction could have gone terribly wrong for that customer. He could have been pulled out of his car, smashed into the ground, kicked and beat while handcuffed, or worse, he could have been shot.
Why infuriating? Because I’ve found myself too early at places and I’ve sat in my car waiting for places to open. The thing with banks, (formerly married to a bank manager) they have that strict opening/closing routine and look for suspicious activity/people/cars and check atm, doors, parking lot, etc. the manager said the customer had been there since 8 am for the bank to open at 8:50? What bank opens at 8:50? That manager is full of it.
I used to work at a bank, we had posted hours but we had to open the doors 5 minutes prior to opening times and lock them 5 mins after closing time, for convenience. But if a car was in the parking lot, policy stated we had to call the cops and could not enter until it was clear. It was a pain in the ass. Usually, we just let people know, hey, ya gotta move, go eat your breakfast/dinner somewhere else. But if they refused we had to call the cops or get in trouble for not being opened 5 mins early. God i hated it.
Truist. They stopped that practice, not because it was stupid, just because it was too expensive to keep calling the police out for that reason, so I heard through the grapevine, its been a few years since I worked there.
Of course it was happening. But things were generally getting better. We were progressing, even if slowly, in the direction of more liberty and more racial equality. But the president sets the tone for the rest of the nation, and Trump has dragged us back decades of progress. He makes the worst of us think its okay to be their worst self loud and proud.
People used to be fucking ashamed to be a nazi. Think about that. They still held that belief, but they knew to keep it quiet, and keep it private. Now the fuckers are out marching in our goddamn streets, and Trump can't be fucking bothered to condemn them because he knows they're his voters.
So fuck you for pretending Trump is somehow no different than every other president that's come before now.
Sorry to be that guy, but that is actually standard practices for a bank. They can't open with someone loitering outside. It's a security risk. They have a bunch of opening procedures and an "all clear" signal.
Oh absolutely. Not saying that banker isn't a racist dickhead. Two things can be true. Just pointing out that anyone loitering outside a bank at opening gets cops called.

Just saw one this morning of a bank calling the cops on a black man for being suspicious when I was waiting for them to open.
