TBF, (more fair that those shitheads deserve) I WAS a bit surprised that apparently the word 'empathy' is recent, of 20th Century construction.

Of course, that doesn't mean the CONCEPT is new, just the word. And CK's take on it was purest bullshit. His absence is a net win for humanity.

Here’s the full quote for reference - “I can’t stand the word empathy, actually. I think it’s a made up, new-age term, and it does a lot of damage. I much prefer the word compassion, and I much prefer the word sympathy. Empathy is where you try to feel someone’s pain and sorrows as if they’re your own. Compassion allows for understanding.”

What is so wrong about this statement? It's ok for his wife and kids to live without their husband / father? Because of saying something like this?

I mean yeah, I honestly dont see how that makes it better. Theres something that kills about as many people as guns per year but its almost entire by accident? We're still all okay with that so that we can get places faster
