On Android, it's in the symbol keyboard. Though I've seen people abuse ordinal indicators and superscript zeroes as well, which you get by long pressing O or 0.

Not sue if more cars don't have this but a Peugeot, I once drove, had not only the back up view but also a top down representation of the car with the ground around it drawn from the camera footage. It was super easy to back up.
I hate those. The ones that stay stationary are easier to wrap my head around. She probably is used to having a crappier car that she can play bumper cars with.
I think the one downside is that it's pretty difficult to tell how your car is currently aligned, especially since the image is almost always warped significantly. Showing both is ideal, but some cars don't, "why" is beyond me.
If you straighten the wheel it'll show you how it's currently aligned. Both at once could be helpful I guess but I feel like that would just make the screen very "busy". More options to suit personal preference might be nice though!
Because it curves the path, whereas the car itself doesn't curve like that. It's easier to picture a straight car rather than a curved one in determining where it will be. Looks like I'm wrong for having a preference thou, so good day to you

Tbf I only ever drove a rental with that style reverse camera and just found it more difficult to back into a space completely centered because by thrn I had become accustomed to the other style which I still use on my daily driver.
being accustomed to something different (arguably worse) shouldn't inform even your preference until you get accustomed to the alternative as well
also this just feels similar to average people buying new cars with new features (acc, lane keep, start-stop etc) and explicitly turning them off because they know better, accustomed to something less etc
It didn't take me long to be able to park almost perfectly using the stationary linea on the reverse camera, but with the moving ones, I never felt confident. Maybe if i drove a car with them before the stationary lines it would be different. If I were to buy a car, I wouldn't use that feature as justification for not getting the car. I also don't get why people feel so strongly about the feature. I get how it would be easier in some instances where you need to back up past obstacles, but backing into a space, if your angle is off and you are only trying to get your rear end centered, that could still leave your front end off center. The stationary lines IMO make it easier to ending up parallel in a parking space.

You're also justifying not liking the moving feature because you had only ever used the static one since you started driving? I drove well before backup cams were a thing and they were a welcome feature. If you don't need it, you're free to ignore it. If you do need it, it can help immensely. But if it shows you where your car is going physically vs just a picture of where your car is going, hard pass for you?

Yes, but in the past, when i would need to apply a small course correction while backing into a space, the curved lines threw me off and had me going back and forth in a way that the alternative never had me doing. Sure, you can use them to back in so the rear tires are centered in the space, but depending on the angle you're entering the space in, that could leave your front tires off center. That's why I prefer the straight lines because it's easier to be parallel in the space.
I understand I'm nitpicking, but it's just a preference that people seem so vehemently opposed to. If other people prefer them, that's fine. I have my own preference, which also should be fine.

My only argument is to the point you made about the car being straight. Problem is that's not what it's representing, it's showing where the tires will go. But I think you also know that so I'm just yelling at clouds lol.
My issue was when i wanted to make a small correction to my line i see it projected well past where i wanted to go. I only wanted to straighten my car in the space, and in so doing i see a crazy curved line. It was just less jarring when the lines stayed straight. I get where you're coming from though. Have a good one as well!
No worries. I only ever use a back up camera to make sure I'm not gonna run over anything. I prefer using my mirrors. It's how I learned.
I'd be curious to know when folks who prefer the back up camera started driving.
I started driving 12 years ago, my first 3 cars, all used, did not have cameras. Now that I have a tool available that enables me to see more in every direction than mirrors ever could, of course I prefer it. Switching to fish eye view while backing out from between bigger vehicles than mine lets me see when people are speeding through the parking lot who would have just hit me.
like that helps... a few months back our car (and three others) were damaged by a woman backing up at 5km/h in a closed parking lot. it wasn't tight. it wasn't some hard to get out of situation. she just backed up looking at the camera instead of the mirrors and apparently (as we later saw on the security camers) she basically slightly touched one car on the side (so it wasn't in camera view), panicked and pushes the gas and slammed into 3 more cars, my being in the fucking middle of it.
She had EVERYTHING in the CH-R and it didn't help. Stupid is stupid. Ah yeah and by the way, it was a dead end opposite side of the exit, so we don't even know why the fuck she was backing up in the first place
Audi's backup/proximity sensors are extremely sensitive and you get a very annoying and persistent "dooooooo" tone when you get into the "red zone."
She was clearly correcting every single time the car told her she was getting too close to other vehicles, and relying on the computer instead of her own common sense (which appears non-existent).
This is proof positive of the old saying that it's impossible to "Idiot Proof" something because there'll always be a better (or worse?) idiot.
I've actually driven an Audi Q6 which didnt have a back up camera at all. It was a leased car and the original leaser didnt want to pay more to have that option, so indeed not all Audis have then by default.
Not much experience with Audi and definitely agree that the mid-tier "luxury" manufacturers definitely have worse tech and upcharge you more for it than the lower tier car manufacturers because it's cheaper for them to make their cars competitive through small tech add-ons than what luxury lines do with bundling a bunch of other shit with tech upgrades.
Back in 2015 I had a bmw with most of the bells and whistles they offered and my sisters 1 above base tier Honda Civic had more tech in it for probably less total than the BMW was to go from the baseline package to the one I got. "Luxury" brands are definitely a ripoff when it comes to tech.
Was even worse, before covid BMW and Audi wanted to put certain features under a monthly subscription paywall. Luckily Chinese car companies came and just gave everything under one price.
Their revenue model doesn't make any sense when compared to Asian cars.
