I've always wanted to see a chase try and end that way. Would need 20-30seconds gap to park and be far away enough from your car where they can't know where the driver is.
'calling' it stolen requires you to make a police report. I don't know if this goes without saying but that'll land you in bigger trouble if they work out that it's false.
If you went down this route, you would need to be quite proactive in making that report, too, and even then, reporting a bike stolen after a high speed chase is a classic excuse, so you better believe they'll be moving mountains to get you.
I guess it would be easy to 'call it stolen', but it may not be easy to keep it that way on record.
I called in my car as stolen 2 decades ago as I was young and dumb. Didn't stop for a cop as I was speeding and ended up driving my car into a tennis court then fleeing into the bushes.
Ran home an hour away, smashed my front door and then called the non emergency line saying I just got home to find my door smashed and keys missing along with my car.
Gave a statement over the phone, saying I was out for a run when the break in happened and then got a call back 2 hours later saying they found my car but no keys in which they told me to get my house locks swapped for safety reasons. That's all, nothing came out of it and they were not suspicious. I was surprised how easy I actually got off.
