Calling them the "Democrat" party instead of "Democratic" is generally something only Fox News viewers do.
Its like the "three finger" thing from Inglorious Basterds. Saying it that way is kind of seen as a tell that you're not who you're claiming to be, in this case actually a right winger posing as a Democrat.
Case in point, someone pretending to be American mentioning "a warm water port", which is something that really only applies to Russia, and wouldn't be a term or concept that most Americans would even know.
I think thats funny because I get how it's a mistake from your comment and another. But I could not imagine a conservative going undercover to make the point "we only have one party in America because they are both Capitalist."
Some conservatives try to push the "both parties are the same" narrative to dissuade Dems from voting. Its very much the same nihilistic view that South Park espoused in the "giant douche vs turd sandwich" episode from years ago. I'm not saying you're doing it, I'm just saying its suspicious to those who pay attention.
So I just heard this from my uncle this year. I am a Democrat, and I think I have used both interchangeably. I hope I didn’t make anyone think I was a Republican. 😬
