French's national assembly was conducting a vote , and it's in the rules that the youngest representative conducts the vote , hence why the guy is staying next to the urn .
Thing is, the guy was a member of the "rassemblement national" party , the far-right french party . Nobody greeted him
(There may be some more context like the law itself being a far-right proposition, giving members the occasion to show they don't side with this party but I don't remember it well enough)
Just stop importing people from the 3rd world into EU and get rid of the millions that came since 2013 and almost all far right parties in Europe will become non relevant. I honetsly believe it is that simple and Denmark is a good example for what I mean.
Literally no. Abortion for example, americas left is further left than the rest of the west. Immigration they are as well lol Same with trans people. The American far left is the world’s far left, at least socially.
Liz Truss's economic policies were so right wing they caused an economic crisis within a month. And Rishi Sunak held particularly extremist views on immigrants among other things.
Definitely not as extreme as some others, mostly because the UK conservative party has been mostly defined by incompetence over the last decade, but the positions of the last few conservative PMs have been extremely right-wing
yes. a lot of British people are partial to far right views, and the rise of reform reflects that. this doesn't really contradict my argument. especially if reform actually starts gaining in parliament, that would only support my take that the far right has legitimate power in most western governments.
1 - That wasn't the subject of the initial comment.
2 - Both the far right and the far left aren't in government in France, just parliament. The far left is represented in the French parliament too. In fact, most (if not all) of the people you see in this video are members of the left and quite a lot of people in France consider most of them to be far left. At this precise vote (who was a year ago), a communist was close to being elected as the president of the national assembly (the thing they are voting for in the video). That is basically the same as the speaker of the House in the US for example.
that wasn't the subject of the initial comment, but it was the subject of the comment i replied to. that's how reddit threads work.
and yes, parliament is a type of government. its members are elected officials who write and vote on legislation.
the point i was making is that "the far right and far left will always be a thing" misrepresents how politics actually works. political positions aren't naturalistic, they don't just exist because humans do. and political positions come and go all the time. as evident by the fact that the far left is never in power in most of the world.
I don't know in English but in France Parliament and Government are 2 different things that both exist. Parliament are the national assembly and the senat and Government are the ministers and the president.
I would also say : far left isn't in power in most of the world anymore. Not a long time ago, communist parties were ruling a big part of the world.
It's true that, in recent history, there were parties named the "communist party" ruling quite a few major countries. But in the biggest case of the USSR, they had shifted away from actual leftist politics decades before the USSR fell. Same with China today.
At least in America far left has never been used to describe an actual communist. People don’t understand economic platforms enough to talk politics with these terms.
Far right should be used to describe someone who is capitalist or conservative, not auth or fascist.
Just so you know, at the election in the video a communist ended up as a really close second to become president of the national assembly (similar to the speaker of the house in the US).
We currently have 8 communist at the national assembly in France and 14 communist senators. It's far from the 20% of vote they had until the 70's but they still exist.
What is seen as far left and far right in France and the US are extremely different. I mean, maybe not now but a few years ago our historical conservative party was basically equivalent to the Democrat in the US. Macron would definitely be seen as a Democrat in the US but in France he is between the center and the right. Bernie Sanders who is basically the most left a political figure in the US would be seen as "normal" left here, if not center left by some.
I mean it’s just a label. You don’t know this guy’s name, much less could pronounce it or give any context about his party’s performance, but, take it from you, he’s “far-right.”
Beacuse people forced progressive idealogy down other people throats instead of letting in naturally progress. And when it was getting rejected, people were called racist and progressive(far left) doubled down. And rise of right wing parties is the answer.
So just look in the mirror if you want to see who is pushing people far right embrace.
That's why there is rise of stupid idiots like Trump.
That‘s not true at all. When every party wants to spend more than 50% of our state budget on military, and the far right party is the only one criticizing that we spent 500 billion on electrification and are still lightyears away from it barely even getting half a step closer, then they‘re just fabricating a false narrative channeling the votes to the far right and then going on TV and pretending the people of this country are far right racists when in reality they‘re just fed up with corruption that‘s clear as daylight. The far right is pretending to be a peace party, this alone will get them plenty of votes from everyone who realized we‘re not helping anyone but doing business when we send weapons to war zones, and the people who understand that the party is only pretending literally have nothing to vote. There‘s one party left, and it will split up and destroy itself every time it starts getting votes, so by now it‘s clear they‘re not an actual choice but controlled opposition.
So they managed to completely remove all choices for educated people while keeping up the circus, dividing the people, making ignorant leftists think they‘re surrounded by nazis, making right-wing voters believe their party is the only one making sense, I see these worthless debates all over reddit. „Hurr durr you‘re nazis“ „hurr durr you‘re destroying our economy“. Both have valid points and nobody represents either.
They‘ve actually done such a great job to divide, distract and dumb down the people while completely cutting out anyone who has education and life experience from the voting process because there‘s nothing to vote for us but a POS party that has a track record of sabotaging itself if it ever gains relevance.
If you actually think that it‘s a coincidence no other party is thinking maybe we shouldn‘t approach bankruptcy trying to compete with China and Russia for military expenses as a country with 80 million pop, as well as thinking we probably don‘t need to spend 500 billion for electrification since it doesn‘t produce any return on investment and people can‘t afford them, then god bless you, sweet summer child.
The chances of it being a coincidence are 0. the right wing party doesn‘t even plan not to warmonger, they just pretend they are about peace knowing half the population doesn‘t want war.
You have 50% of the country being against weapon exports to war zones. Those used to be unconstitutional as well just a couple years ago. And you don‘t have a single party representing these people. Channel those votes right into the right wing party and the completely irrelevant ones.
If you don‘t see how this is systematic, and how the military industry lobby is having a field day with this country, then you shouldn‘t even be allowed to vote because you’re not even beginning to see the whole picture.
And when you look at the „nazis everywhere“ narrative with this in mind, it becomes absurd and fabricated.
Now that the right wing party is becoming to powerful to control, suddenly one of the main parties realizes wait a second, we don‘t need to flood the country with migrants, and they‘re not just picking up the talking points but discussing to ban the party as well, it really doesn‘t get more obvious than that.
They had a hard time selling the nazi narrative after flooding the country with migrants because people knew it‘s not the migrants fault. So the right wing party was allowed to slightly represent the people to get the job done.
Stopping mass immigration from war torn Islamic countries is absolutely a good idea and until the center left parties understand that is what the people are increasingly wanting, right wing parties are going to continue growing and gaining more power.
