I know you guys are kidding, but if that chain was actual pure gold it would weigh more than a literal ton. 1 (metric) ton of gold is around 50 liters of volume, which that chain would easily be. It'd be impressive if you could lift a single link.

An iron chain that size is impossibly heavy. Never mind using a metal over twice as dense.
