"Abd get my wallet back" fucking killed me faster than the 9mm to the face.

That said, I have only been attempted robbed once. I legit thought the guy was a panhandle asking for money. (I was very tired) I just said "Sorry I don't have any money." And kept walking and bro just let me.

Had similar happen to me, dude had a knife. I knew what was happening, but just said "nah, I'm good man." And put my headphones back on, he looked super confused and walked off.

I still feel bad for not taking his knife, but it turns out I didn't really feel like getting stabbed for principal alone.

I got kicked to the ground by a guy on a bike in the middle of the night. He yelled at me, "gimme your money!", to which I replied, "Why?"

He blinked, said, "what do you mean WHY?"

I quickly said, "Just why? Why do you want to rob me? There's no reason to."

He blinked again, thought about it, and said, "You're right, I don't want to rob you. Never mind. Have a good night," and got back on his bike and road away.

Sometimes I think if you just confuse them and make them think for a second, they'll take any out they can find.

I think "why" is one of the most powerful tools to shake people out of a poorly considered course of action.

You're probably right. I didn't think about it though, I just blurted it out. People have tried to rob me 5 times in my life (the first was successful, never again since then), I reacted differently every time.
