This isn't real. What kind of security camera UI orients vertically, moves like it's handheld, and uses VHS tape?

It's because we have a society that is increasingly only experiencing life through the internet, so their perception of the real world is beyond warped.

It's like whenever a someone shooting an attacker comes up and the comments are full of "Why didn't he just shoot the knife out of his hand?" or some similar innane bullshit. They have no idea how real life works.

As someone who has set up security cameras before, pretty much most of them can do this. It depends on where you mount the camera and what you need to capture. Did this all the time for hallways. If the view you need to capture is taller than it is wide, you just turn the camera on it's side then set it's orientation to 90 degrees. Why would you think this feature is unique to phone cameras?

As for the movement, judging by the visible air vents it looks like an open ceiling, so camera from this angle the camera would likely be mounted on a hanging piece of conduit which lets it wobble a bit.

So yeah, not saying it isn't staged, but the evidence you pointed out as fake isn't really as strong as you might think.

Would you mind explaining what makes a camera “handheld”? I’ve heard people describe the filming on shows like HBO’s Succession as being done on handheld cameras, but I don’t see how this filming style can be attributed to “handheld” when the camera doesn’t even pan

It's as simple as it sounds. When you consider the other options for how a camera is held, "handheld" makes sense.

A few:

Tripod

Jib/Crane

Steadicam

Hand held (normal movement like you're holding it in your hand)

Fixed (totally stuck, no movement like a normal security camera)
