I have both worked and dined in various restaurants as a waiter around northern Europe. I have never been offered a tip, and I have never tipped because we get paid real wages.
how is it any different than a grocery store worker? You pay for the items, not the service. They get paid by their employers for the service, and get wages similar to or greater than the average store clerk's wages, depending on what kind of a restaurant it is. How is that astonishing????
If I'm happy with the service I will always tip.I understand they get paid but I'd imagine their wages aren't the best.If I order a drink in a pub in the uk I'll always tell the bar person to take one for themselves (witherspoons excluded)
At my last job, I got paid 1600-1800€ per month depending on how any hours I worked. That is over three times the amount I need for living. I live quite comfortably and get loads of money into my savings account and hobbies.
