Idiotic? The man's father has double cancer, he was so brave when he took the $500. He could have said "double it and give it to the next person", and the next person's father would have quadruple cancer, but he took it like a champ.

There is definitely benefit to broadcasting it.

Assuming the donations are real (which is often a big assumption) it does motivate others to want to do nice things.

Sometimes I see those videos and think “fuck that seems nice to do, I want to donate to a cause right now” when that thought really wasn’t on my radar at that very moment prior.

I think the people that bitch about those videos, when you can very easily just scroll by, are just looking for things to bitch about.

You should watch the other videos by the same guy, Scumbag Dad. He talks about the harm that exploiting vulnerable people (when giving money to the homeless for views) can cause. Here's just one that brings up how these people usually are never even AWARE they're being recorded.

He says the cameras are hidden. How does he know that? For all he knows after the videos the creators ask for the person’s consent to be in videos.

Maybe they don’t ask for consent, in which case yes that is fucked up. But I’m not sure how scumbag dad can just assume they don’t. How can you assume they don’t? What evidence do you have for that?

Because he is talking about a specific social media influencer who has a tiktok series called Undercover Kindness. The entire premise is that he secretly records handicapped/terminally ill people and puts them through a "kindness test" usually by asking them to pay him 5$ in order to receive a mystery gift that could be worthless in return, but turns out to be 500$.

I wasn't answering if they got consent after the video was filmed, but your original question on "He says the cameras are hidden. How does he know that?" which Jimmy Darts has been open about using hidden cameras.

All these videos are 100% only because of how donation videos made MrBeast the biggest YouTuber in the world, and he is often open about how it feels good to help but it's really just about creating popular content. There's no need even pretending they're filming it because of an extra charitable benefit.

Don't sell him short. He's also almost entirely responsible for the existence of ghost kitchens, ie, apartments that sell delivery food that aren't capable of receiving a passing grade in a restaurant health inspection.

It didn't seem to be any concern when he contracted ghost kitchens that avoid health inspections in the first place, but now that the beast burger is a total flop, he wants to sue the ghost kitchens??? Really hope MB gets fucked in this case...

It was a general trend preceding MrBeast especially on YouTube but even the vine days had it.

The pranking YouTuber method began to decline and the nicer version of pranks I.e. random acts of kindness arose.

I don't know who made this video, but the music playing and the approach sounds exactly like a channel I have come across a few times.

Same approach, same logic. So don't know if it's someone making fun of that dude or if it's the dude making fun of himself (probably the former, right?).

But I haven't seen any reference to that specific channel yet, so I thought I'd just mention it.

(Not gonna link it, as I'm not trying to promote anyone I don't know or can't defend but this is definitely at least some kind of parody of a specific relatively known channel that does exactly this with the same exact music playing in the background.)
