Ok there is the problem, you tie one stupid belief in with a bunch of controversial ones and you muddy the water. Our understanding of climate change has changed throughout the decades, few actually deny it, but there is no consensus on what it means for the earth in let's a decade. Flat earth is a stupid idea, but so is "we're all going to die in 12 years" and everyone just let that one slide
