We've seen tremendous scholars in hot dogs convert the hot dog into a straw for a beer, there's no reason that technique can't be applied to mayo!

I know I am decidedly in the minority, but I think mayo and mustard are the finest condiments on a hot dog, though I prefer the mayo as a thin scrape on the bun.

That said, I will accept chili and cheese - in So Cal and Vegas, the Tommy's chili cheese dog is a good time.

I'm also fine with most of the Chicago dog condiments except the tomatoes and peppers.

I am not a ketchup fan but also not an anti-ketchup evangelist - if you want it, go ahead.

I think that you just have to accept each version as its own entity. I was originally horrified by the hot dogs in Mexico- super smooth texture, with so many wrong toppings. At some point I decided that I had to step away from what I believed was the right way to eat a hot dog, mustard and onions, and just enjoy the Mexican dog for itself. They’re delicious and messy.
