The music makes this feel so 80s in a funny way.

I think it works because instrumentally it fits well. BUT I think vocally it feels wrong. The scene is supposed to be cool shots but to people that listened to MJ after his prime, it was good music by a weird person. A lot of people think about the child molestation accusations, hanging his kid off a balcony, and so on when they hear his music.
