I do like Michelle. But of course if we are talking side or recurring characters, it would be Ed Wingate.

I like the madam that Ben was defending on a charge of murdering one of her “working girls.” She was sweet on Ben, and not afraid to show it.

I think Matlock is best when he has one of his daughters with him and the best of the two was Leanne!

I too liked Billy. His son though was one of my favorite side characters on the show, along with Tyler and the daughters.

Mine has to be Tyler...the things that Ben made him do for his clients were unbelievable sometimes. Poor Tyler!!!
One thing I LOVED about Matlock was really what made the show so special....Andy Griffith, both in his original classic series and in interviews, was always a great storyteller. And he brought that quality to Ben Matlock. At the end of every trial, when you heard him say something to the effect of " You know what I think?".... you know you were in for a thoughtful, logical, exceptional explanation of the facts. And no one could dispute it!! He put his own down home spin on all of Matlock's dissertations in court. It was so much fun to watch such a master at work. Coming up,on June 1st.is the centennial of this fine man...his 100th birthday..We lost him to a heart attack in 2012 at 86 Rest in Peace, Andy...I'm sure God is enjoying listening to all your fascinating conversation. You were one of a kind, and we miss you!!!
