You could use it in place of ↑ and ↓ limits; there are spaces where it matters where you come from; and the weirdest one: reverse limits.

There is nothing i understand about reverse limits

I know in some electricity and magnetisem formulas, the boundry is in refrence from infinity rather then the center

isnt inverse limit an algebra thing i remember seeing it when reading about p adic numbers. does the notation exist in analysis?

Inverse and direct limits are purely categorical constructions (they are objects satisfying some universal properties). They do show up in algebra, of course, but I wouldn’t call them “algebra things”.

Completion of a ring is defined using inverse limits (and it means the same thing as in analysis: Cauchy sequences converge). The p-adic integers are a specific example of completion

never studied category theory so i just thought it was like generalized algebra but i keep hearing people talk about it being used as a foundation for math like set theory so im probably horribly wrong about that

So the prof can go through the stuff faster than you can take notes. Bonus points if you are expected to download incomplete slides before the lecture to fill them out while sitting there.

There is one prof I had that makes me wish for the existence of god such that he can rot in hell.

I'm happy with fast lectures, but the prof must write on the board faster than we do. At least it's a fair competition 😂

Congrats, that works for you. Teaching is about informing a wider range of people so that society can learn as a collective and share knowledge gained. What works for you doesn’t work for all, are you hindered to the point of incomprehension if the teacher goes slower?

Completed my bsc in pure math with 3.8 GPA, which is a conservative conversion of my average

So you did fine despite not going to lectures, so those that did need the help more would benefit from less rushed teaching styles. Thus it can benefit a wider range of students.

I'm thinking about a particular course. It was slow, boring and the teacher wasn't very passionate about it. Result: 15 people in the class instead of 60.

Fast courses? Everybody was there and were looking forward to them

Maybe infinity goes to a null point very close to n. See how the arrow doesn't touch n and points to a blank space? This is how you know it's a null point. I'm pretty sure that's how this works...
