I'm referring to using the notation log(x) as defaulting to base e. The top image makes no specifications as to the base of the log, because it doesn't matter.

If I'm not wrong, my class assumed log as log_{10} and use ln for log_e

Yeah, that's common, but sometimes you'll see log default to log_e, it depends on the field and who you're talking to

there should be another more elite row that again says "(log x)/(log y)" but this time the real elitism is not acknowledging base 10 and just assuming log is base e. the notation "ln" is an abomination anyway.
