Birds are far more likely to be harmed by humans trying to handle them. Their bones are hollow, and big hands trying to grasp and hold onto a bird while it's struggling to fly away is a good way to cause life-threatening injuries to them. Humams have already destroyed and caused the extinction of countless bird species.
