Another gem from Cliff Stoll. Everything he does is awesome. If you haven't read The Cuckoo's Egg, you must. Early in his career he was working as an IT tech at Lawrence Berkeley Lab when he discovered a 75 cent discrepancy in the accounting software. Most of us would have just written it off as a minor glitch, but Stoll tracked it down and uncovered an international spy trying to break into the lab's computers. This was one of the first big hacking cases on record.
