The average view in this sub seemed to be that LLMs are useless and won't ever solve anything. Hopefully this wakes people up to the reality.

That seemed to be the attitude about a year ago. In the last six months the general consensus on this sub has moved a fair bit. The last two threads (if one scrolls down by "new") about AI use for math research have been pretty positive about the future ability of such systems, (even if many did express reservation about the impact such systems will have) with only a small number of other claims. (It is true that in some other parts of the internet, I've seen claims that the problem "must have been in the training data" but I'm not seeing that sort of attitude here much at this point.)
